REGISTRATION AND WEIGH-IN Event schedule may change depending on the number of participants registering for each event. No event will start before the times indicated in preliminary schedule. Final event schedule will be updated and posted on the event schedule page. Please include e-mail addresses, if available, on registration forms to allow schedule and event results to be sent out more quickly and easily. Weigh-In: Lightweights must weigh-in one hour before their scheduled event. Athletes must be within two pounds of the required weight on the first try. Athletes within this limit may have two more attempts to make weight during the weigh-in period. Athletes who fail to make weight or miss weigh-in may row in open events provided there is space. Equipment Failure: Equipment failure means a loss of recording or display, a broken seat, footstrap, chain or flywheel malfunction. If the failure occurs during the first 30 seconds of an event, the event will be re-rowed. If a competitor experiences an equipment failure after that time, all other rowers must continue to race. The individual with the failure may row in a later event and his/her time will be used to place in the event the individual registered in. Timing: All event timing will be electronically monitored and recorded. Up to 20 athletes may be included in each event or heat. Protests must be made immediately upon the finish of the event. Coaching: During an event only one coach/cox will be allowed on the floor per competitor. Once the event has begun, adjustment of the rowing machine may only be made by the athlete. The vent setting can not be changed. Results: Event results will be posted promptly. Overall finishes for events with multiple heats will be based on heat times. Heats will be seeded based on times submitted with registrations. CRASH-B 2000 Meter Events Qualification: Times which are better than CRASH-B qualifying times will be considered for a sponsored trip to Boston. If more than four (4) individuals qualify, the organizers of the event will select the four competitors with times that are furthest below their respective qualifying times. College students will qualify for CRASH-B based on the collegiate open standards. By CRASH-B rules, Junior event participants (ages 14-18) must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 1989 AND be enrolled in high school (or lower grade) as of race day. No one under age 14 may row in the CRASH-B sprints. All competitors 19-29 year of age must compete in the open events. Separate awards will not be given for Collegiate and International categories. Medals will be awarded to the top three (3) finishers in all individual event categories listed in the registration materials. Only the top finishers in the relay events will be awarded medals. All disputes concerning these rules and other protests will be decided by Midwinter Meltdown organizers, whose decision is binding. |
